Presentation of New Centaurus Team Racing Car
The Student Group of the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Thessaly will present its new racing car at the port of Volos. Specifically, the event will take place on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at 21.00, at the port of Volos (in front of the Papastratos building).
The Centaurus team of the University of Thessaly was founded in October 2009 by 12 undergraduate students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The aim was to design and construct a racing car, aiming to participate in the world's largest contest for student engineers, Formula Student. Apart from the basic knowledge they had acquired from the School, the team started from scratch on this subject.
The scientific team leader is the Assistant Professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Mr. Alexis Karmedides.
Its history includes three car models, Chiron, Nessus, the upgraded model of Nessus, Nessus R and Thireus. Some of its important moments are:
