One day conference: Creating common spaces of equal participations for Roma integration

On the occasion of the launch of an important European project (CoSpIRom), aiming to Roma social integration, University of Thessaly together with KEKPA-DIEK of Volos Municipality, co-organize a one-day conference titled: Creating common spaces of equal participations for Roma Integration.
In the framework of the conference issues related to the role of education, of Media as well as police to Roma integration will be discussed.
In the main objectives of the projects, within this conference is also included
- Promote common spaces as effective tool for fighting discrimination
- Face stereotypes and discrimination practices enhancing positive images of both parts
- Challenge the symbolic boundaries
- Empower personal and collective identities of Roma people for acquiring skills to claim their rights as citizens
- Contribute to the improvement of national Roma Integration (and EU) strategies
- Documentation of particularities, exchange of practices among the partners, and developing applicable tools for use by
- EU on similar issues
This particular European Project, coordinated by University of Thessaly it is of great importance, since just a few number of this category of projects are funded by EC, after rigorous evaluation. In this project participate structures from Greece (University of Thessaly, KEKPA-DIEK of Volos Municipality), Italy (University of Pisa, UNIPI), Romania (West University of Timisoara, WUT).
