Welcome Day for the Foreign Students of University of Thessaly

On Wednesday, 13th of March 2013, all Erasmus and other foreign students of the University of Thessaly in Spring Semenster participated in the " WELCOME DAY" organized by the International Relatons Office of the University (IRO).
The program included an excursion in the area of Lake Plastira, sightsseing tour with the guidance of the Greek Erasmus Volunteers Students and the IRO's Staff and finally welcoming by the Academic Coordinator of the Dep. of Veterinary School, M. Polychronis Kostoulas and Lunch in the Student Restaurant in Karditsa Campus.
The " Welcome Days" is a practice strongly supported by the foreign students and the IRO of the University of Thessaly.

Nomination of Professor Nikolaos Katopodis

On Monday the 21st of January 2013, in the Auditorium of the School of Agricultural Sciences in Fytoko ( N. Ionia Volou), there took place the Nomination of Professor Nikolaos Katopodis (University of Michigan) to Honorary Doctorate of the Department of Agriclulture Crop Production and Rural Environment of the University of Thessaly.

On Tuesday, 16th October 2012, the University of Thessaly in a special Ceremony that took place in the Auditorium “Yiannis Kordatos” in the Papastratos Central Building, nominated Mr Richard M. Ryan, Professor of the University of Rochester, as an Honorary Doctorate of the Departments of the School of Humanities ( DPE, DPSE, DSE) and of the Department of Physical Education and Sport Sciences ( DPESS).

Great Distinction Awarded to Greek Professor from Japan

Aravas

Great recognition from the Far East, particularly from Japan, was established for Professor Nikolaos Aravas, Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Thessaly, Greece, who was designated as “World Premier International Professor” and will begin a close collaboration with the International Institute for Carbon-Neutral Energy Research (I2CNER), University of Kyushu, Japan, in order to research the effect of hydrogen on mechanical behavior of construction materials.

In Volos and more specifically in the auditorium "Giannis Kordatos" of University of Thessaly on December 3, Saturday at 20:00, Mrs Glykatzi - Ahrweiler, one of the most prominent academic figures in Greek and international level. The Music High School of Volos has scheduled for the same day an event with musical performance and Mrs's Glykatzi - Ahrweiler poetry set to music. Students will have the opportunity to talk with Mrs. Ahrweiler and reflect on contemporary issues.
